Starbucks, a multinational chain of coffeehouses, made an announcement on September 12 regarding the company’s partnership with the blockchain project Polygon and the unveiling of the company’s Web3 technology known as Starbucks Odyssey. On the Web3 platform known as Starbucks Odyssey, Starbucks rewards members and employees working in the United States of America who will have the ability to acquire assets known as non-fungible tokens (NFT).

The Coffeehouse Company, Starbucks, Has Announced That They Will Be Using the Web3 Platform. By unveiling a new Web3 application that is powered by Polygon, Starbucks has demonstrated its commitment to the emerging technologies of blockchain, Web3, and NFT. According to the company’s corporate stories and news page, “The new Starbucks Odyssey experience will offer members the ability to earn and buy digital collectible stamps (NFTs) that will unlock access to new, immersive coffee experiences.” “The new Starbucks Odyssey experience will offer members the ability to earn and buy digital collectible stamps” “Starbucks will construct an accessible Web3 community that will enable new methods to engage with members and partners (workers) in order to establish itself as one of the first firms to integrate NFTs with an industry-leading loyalty program at scale,” according to the press release.

On Twitter and in a blog post titled “Starbucks Taps Polygon for Its ‘Starbucks Odyssey’ Web3 Experience,” Polygon also confirmed the connection. In the announcement made on the blog, Polygon states: “This one-of-a-kind loyalty program experience is powered by the low fees and high transaction speeds on the Polygon PoS network.”

Customers and employees of Starbucks can begin signing up for the waitlist beginning today in order to be among the first to receive an invitation to the very exclusive Starbucks Odyssey event. According to the corporation, the platform will become fully operational “later on this year.” According to Ryan Butz, Starbucks’ vice president of loyalty, strategy, and marketing, the technology is perfectly positioned with the company’s ambitions for increasing its level of sustainability.

Butz stated in a statement that was released on Monday that the construction of Starbucks Odyssey utilizing technology that is in line with the company’s environmental objectives and commitments is a major priority. According to the vice president of loyalty rewards, “We took a very thoughtful and thorough approach when evaluating which blockchain to utilize, and Polygon’s fast, low-cost, and carbon-neutral network is the perfect foundation for our first digital community.” Polygon’s network is also carbon-neutral.
