The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is a trending collection of 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs [non-fungible tokens] minted on the Ethereum[erc20] blockchain back in April 2021.
Each of the 10,000 NFTs has different traits and unique characteristics, and presently they are among some of the top-ranked in the NFT marketplaces. Each BAYC NFT gives its holders additional rights to airdrops.
Privileges like access to actual life events and performers; even allow them to monetize their Bored Ape NFT holdings through a copyright license or build their brand around their held NFTs and the privilege of being a member of a swamp club and a bathroom [virtual hangout places].
Founders of the Bored Ape NFT
The BAYC NFTs were created by Yuga Labs LLC, a pioneer in the NFT world.
The people behind it are Greg Solano, Wylic Aronov, No Sass, and Emperor Tomato Ketchup; 4 friends who designed and created the Bored Ape intending to “make some dope apes, test their minting skills, and try to create something funny.”
They cited the term ‘aping in’ and their liking for apes as the reason for choosing an ape as their NFT’s mascot. ‘Aping in’ is a crypto trading phrase that means to buy a currency or NFT, risking a significant sum of money that might have to be abandoned.
Besides turning the Bored Apes into amongst the top NFTs and the most popular Avatars in the crypto enthusiasts’ and celebrities’ social media profiles, the BAYC creators also hold the credit of acquiring the Crypto Punks and MeeBits NFTs. The creation of the Mutant Ape Yacht Club [MAYC] NFTs, the Bored Ape Kennel Club [BAKC] NFTs, and the release of the ApeCoin [APE].
Fortune to the BAYC holders :
The MAYC NFT, the BAKC NFT, and the ApeCoin. The initial $70 – $ 90 floor priced BAYC NFT has brought in more than 145000% returns update to its holders since the start. Currently, a BAYC NFT floor price is around $366,980.
BAYC NFT holders got airdropped with Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFTs, which are minted by giving any of the three possible serum variations to the Bored Ape NFT, resulting in the creation of a new NFT, a mutant version of the Bored Apes.
Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFTs have a floor price of 23.99 Ethereum [$84,670], and 18,338 MAYC NFTs have been minted.
Bored Ape #8585:
It is officially the most expensive non-fungible token (NFT) in the Yacht Club collection. The trippy ape, with a king’s crown, heart sunglasses, and a psychedelic body.
They were given another additional NFT from the Yuga Labs, the Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) NFTs, a collection of Shiba Inu breed dogs’ art pieces with a floor price of 7.25 Ethereum [$25,628] as of now.
BAYC NFT holders can mint them by paying for the gas fees only. There are 9,602 BAKC NFTs that have been minted.
Airdrop of the Ape Coin:
The holders of the BAYC, MAYC, and BAKC NFTs were airdropped with a different number of coins when the Ape coin was launched on March 17th.
The ape coin is the cryptocurrency behind the Ape Foundation and the Ape ecosystem. It is listed in almost all of the biggest and most famous crypto exchanges, such as Coinbase and Binance, and it was listed soon after its launch. APE is currently trading at around $ 10.84 from the recent high of $16.
Bored Ape NFT holders have airdropped 10,094 Ape coins for each BAYC NFT, 2,042 Ape coins for each MAYC NFT, and 2,898 ApeCoins for holding pairs of MAYC and BAKC.
Combining the value of the BAYC, MAYC, BAKC NFTs, and the Ape Coin, we see that the returns are enormous. And these collectibles will gain more in value with time. As the Ape Community has stepped into the Metaverse and Web3, many brands, games, merch, and songs have been created circling the Bored Ape.
A recent tweet about a hacking attack on the Bored Ape Yacht Club Discord emphasizes more the value and the popularity of its NFTs.
