Do Kwon, The Founder Of LUNA, Has Been Sentenced To 4 Months In Prison

Do Kwon Faces Extradition to South Korea as Montenegro Rejects U.S. Plea

Do Kwon is sentenced to 4 months in prison in Montenegro for possessing a fraudulent passport.

After being found guilty of using a fake Costa Rican passport, Terraform Labs’ founder was given a four-month prison sentence.

Do Kwon, the founder of Terraform Labs, has been found guilty of acquiring a fake passport by a court in Montenegro and given a four-month jail term.

Han Chong-joon, a coworker of Kwon’s and the former chief financial officer of Terraform Labs, faced charges along with him and was given the same punishment. The Montenegro Basic Court stated in a statement on its website that the period of time both men had been imprisoned will be taken into consideration.

Kwon was accused of trying to exit the country through his ownership of a fake Costa Rican passport. He allegedly claimed in court in Montenegro that he was unaware his passport was allegedly forged and placed the blame on a company with a Chinese name.

Kwon informed the Montenegro Basic Court that third-party “agencies” provided him with his allegedly fake passports and travel documents, including a Costa Rican passport, according to a report published on June 17 by the South Korean news site Segye Ilbo.

Kwon claimed that since he had been using his Costa Rican passport to travel “for years,” he had no reason to question its authenticity.

In addition to denying forging travel documents, Kwon denied claims that he gave money to Milojko Spaji, the current leader of the Europe Now party and a former finance minister of Montenegro.
