After pulling out of a major sponsorship deal in 2022, Crypto.com, the Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange, has now sealed an unprecedented multi-year partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League. This alliance makes Crypto.com the first-ever exclusive cryptocurrency platform to sponsor Europe’s premier football competition.
Crypto.com’s Bold Move into European Football
Crypto.com will officially unveil its role as the UEFA Champions League’s global sponsor during the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, 2024. This partnership is set to revolutionize fan engagement by integrating Crypto.com’s branding into the heart of the league. Fans can expect in-stadium activations, broadcast integrations, and innovative advertising campaigns, all aimed at merging the excitement of football with the dynamic world of cryptocurrency.

In 2022, the exchange backed out of a $495 million sponsorship deal with the UEFA Champions League due to regulatory concerns in key European markets such as the UK, France, and Italy. The deal was originally intended to replace Russian energy giant Gazprom, but Crypto.com hesitated, fearing that regulatory obstacles would restrict its platform’s operations.
Since then, Crypto.com has secured regulatory approval across several European jurisdictions, paving the way for this landmark collaboration with UEFA. The exchange’s persistence in navigating regulatory landscapes has strengthened its presence in Europe, enabling it to forge such a high-profile partnership.
