Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has announced the release of his fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection in collaboration with Binance. The collection, set to debut on May 29 on the Binance NFT Marketplace, aims to celebrate Ronaldo’s illustrious career with highlights from his football journey.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s New NFT Collection: A Celebration of Football History
The new NFT collection pays homage to Ronaldo’s impressive history in football, featuring moments from his time with some of the world’s most prestigious clubs. In a statement shared in a Binance blog post, Ronaldo expressed his excitement: “My football journey has seen me travel around the world, and I’ve been honoured to play for some of the most prestigious clubs out there. Now it’s your turn to join me on that journey too.”
While the exact number of NFTs in this collection remains undisclosed, the pricing details have been revealed. Each “Normal NFT” will be available at a fixed price, while the “Super Rare NFT” will be priced differently.
Exclusive Perks for NFT Holders
Ronaldo’s previous NFT collections have offered exclusive perks beyond the digital assets themselves. These have included premium experiences such as opportunities to play football with Ronaldo as part of Binance promotions. This new collection is expected to continue offering unique experiences to NFT holders.
Legal Issues Surrounding Ronaldo and Binance
The announcement of Ronaldo’s latest NFT collection comes at a challenging time. In November 2023, Ronaldo was named in a class action lawsuit filed in a United States district court in Florida. The lawsuit accuses him of promoting and participating in the sale of unregistered securities through previous NFT collections with Binance. The plaintiffs argue that Ronaldo should have been aware of Binance’s alleged illegal activities.
This legal battle is part of broader issues faced by Binance. The company’s founder, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, was found guilty in the U.S. for his role in an alleged money laundering scheme and sentenced to four months in detention in April 2024.
